It’s a great privilege to continue my musical involvement from the TV anime series to the film. I kept the Reze scenes from the original manga open around the clock, glaring at the pages as I worked on the song. I hope you enjoy it.

誰に歌ってもらうかは深く想定せずこの曲を作り始めたのですが、作っていくうちにどうも宇多田さんしかありえないという気持ちになりとにかくオファーさせていただきました。メランコリックでありながらも風のように吹き抜けていく宇多田さんの歌声がこの曲に乗った瞬間、あまりのことにはっと息をのみながら感激したのをおぼえています。一人の音楽を作る人間としてこの機会をとても光栄に思います。
I started working on the song without giving too much thought to who would sing it. However, as the song began to take shape, it became evident that no one was better suited to it than Utada-san, so I reached out to them. The moment Utada-san’s voice—melancholic, yet sweeping like a gust of wind—came in over the track, I remember being so moved that I let out a sharp gasp. As a songwriter, I feel truly honored to have been given this opportunity.

I knew I had to give it a go when I received this offer. Both of us being uncompromising singer-songwriters, we knew better than anybody else where the other comes from, but also faced the challenge of meeting halfway where our styles, as we found in the process, contrast. I hope everyone can feel the new sides that were brought out in us, as we remained true to ourselves and each other.

This time, it’s unleashed in full throttle under the title:
“HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI [2-hundred-million-centimeter-long blades] (70% Unlocked edit)”—yes, you finally get to hear what comes after the TV size version. LOL
One reason we’d only ever released the 90-second TV cut was… well, because the second verse actually sings about Reze.
And now—can you believe it? That very song ended up in the actual Reze Arc movie…!
That makes it two wins in a row for my dream collab battles! LOL

「レゼ篇」では、監督の𠮷原さんや音響監督の名倉さんと幾度も対話を重ね、映像に寄り添う部分のメリハリを意識しながら、フィルムスコアとして音楽を制作しました。本作品に長く音楽に関わるにあたり、以前から「まだ出していないアイデアがある」と語ってきましたが、その一つが本作でのオーケストラの活用です。叙情的な物語に合わせ、大編成の迫力と、ピアノやバイオリンの極繊細な響きを対比させました。特に砂浜の場面では、バイオリンの非常に細やかな音を録音し、登場人物の心情に寄り添うように仕上げています。映画館でしか聴き取れないような小さな音の表情にもぜひ耳を傾けていただき、映像美とともにお楽しみください。サウンドトラックも発売中ですので、あわせてご鑑賞いただければ幸いです。

2008年12月にソロユニット"agraph"として電子音楽家としてのキャリアをスタート。2014年TVアニメ「ピンポン」ではじめて劇伴を担当。
テクノやハウス、エレクトロといった様々なダンスミュージックの文脈にある劇伴制作術を確立する。
これまでに山田尚子監督、湯浅政明監督とのタッグをはじめ数々のアニメ、実写作品の劇伴を手掛ける。
2022年TVアニメ「チェンソーマン」劇伴担当。2024年にはアムステルダムで「チェンソーマンライブ」を大成功させる。
